Now that the dust has settled, I can finally post my ‘first day of school’ photos. This year however is a lot different. My oldest son Jackson DROVE HIMSELF TO SCHOOL, which is not even possible. My daughter Sylvie is a senior at the middle school, (which means she’s in the 8th grade). My youngest son Payne started his very first day of public school in third grade. That’s been the hardest part for me. This is the first school day in 12 years that I haven’t had to pick one of my kids up at noon. Today was the first school day in a very long time that I’ve had to eat my lunch alone. Somebody said, “don’t blink.” Well…I blinked. I’ll be honest, it’s a little emotional. And the question I keep asking myself is, “Have I done enough?” I guess only time will tell. For now I can take great comfort in the fact that I know my kids are at great schools with some of the best teachers in the state, and I know they are being taken care of. For that, I am very thankful.
